Tony - those early teachers sure had a bead on us, didn't they? I used to get checkmarks (meaning "room for improvement") in a topic called "Exercises Self Control", which basically meant I was a bit of a chatterbox in class. Those marks for me were rightly earned! :o

Great stuff this week folks, my head hurts from all that learning!

Val – Thanks for the theme and for starting us off so well with your components of education composition. Nicely done. And your ‘Presentation Graphics’ course sounds interesting.

Steven – Nice treatment on the shot of your school … I’m glad you were allowed to get close enough with a camera to get the shot. I’ll show the same laudable restraint as my forum friends and not ask any questions about, or even raise the issue of the sculpture.

Lorri – Nice entry! The colors of the brick look really nice against the sky and roof shingles. It’s a nice crisp image and looks really great.

Sepiana – Quite the contrast from Lorri’s 1890 school. Nice interpretation of the theme and it looks like you’ve got some good material to study!!

Suzanne – That’s terrific! I hope the excitement of books never wears off for them.

TonyW – Great composition Tony, and you got your always crisp, clear shot as well. Isn’t it tragic the way we can be unfairly labeled at a tender age? And how is it that as we go through life others consistently make the same incorrect assumptions about us?? I don’t get it … they must talk. ;)

TonyK – Great image of old and new. It’ll be interesting to see in a few years how many computer tricks the ‘student’ is teaching the ‘teachers’.

Eleanor – What a nice tribute to the guide dog program and those who teach the dogs. Your pup is a cutie … good luck with the first part of his/her education process.

Mary Lou – I can’t think of a single better way to learn than a lift-a-flap book. Wow .. what colors!! It’s great to see that Oregon’s all green!:D

Clara – Yeah, it’s an eye opener isn’t it?? Your entry is great as is your theme interpretation. And for those not participating in the 365 challenge, do yourselves a favor and visit Clara’s blog (http://clarawilliams.blogspot.com/) … it’s a great one.

Helen – That’s pretty cool that you have all your report cards, and even moreso that you’d run into your 2nd grade teacher and learned that she curled with your mom. I love the graphics on the front of the grade 3 – 6 reports.

Sharon – I had to do a double-take. Not more than a half hour ago I added RAM to LW Jan’s computer … it’s all very déjà vu-ish. It looks like you’ve got some serious upgrading going on … enjoy all the shiny new graphics!!

Toni – Great shot, even if it’s not what you wanted, you can just about hear grandpa saying “and this key is f-sharp”. I like the way your vignette include part of the teacher, the student and the object of their attention. It ties it all together nicely.

Ellen – What a beautiful classroom and a great image!! The reflections are great. I’ll be nobody cuts those classes!

There’s still a lot of time to get in on the fun … so tell your friends!

Thanks as always Bill, the restraint about Steven's school's sculpture is surprising...

Thanks for the comments, Bill. And I am shocked () by any suggestions that this (http://westerngallery.wwu.edu/sculpture_n.shtml) sculpture is inappropriate! It's the third thumbnail from the right. It explains the compromising position! Now the sculpture on the left, India, now that one has legend! See if you can find it!:o
