How Do I Upload Organizer from v5 to v6?

I installed v6 months ago but had a problem. When I installed an HP printer, it reconfigured the port locations and messed up my organizer links in v5. Finally I have the v5 Organizer links straight (I think) and want to move everything into v6 and delete v5. What do I do? I've backed up the v5 catalog. I do have recent photos/files in v the v6 Organizer, too. Will this be a problem? Thanks for helping in advance.

Not really a problem, you will have to use two catalogs or import those photos into the new (converted) catalog.

I didn't see the answer right away so I kept digging in the "Mangage" area. Eventually I came across "Convert a Catalog" and it explains the simple process. Wish me luck! I have a huge number of files (that are backed up) that I'm moving up to v6. I've had v7 sitting here for months but didn't want to install it until I got all of this straight.

:confused: I managed to repair the v5 catalog and the second time I used the "Select Reindex Visual Similarity Data" box and that seemed to make a difference. YEAH! But now I have TWO catalogs in v6--"My Catalog" and "Catalog v5". What do I do to have these blend together as one catalog? I really don't want to go back and forth between catalogs. Do I use the "CONVERT" again? I just don't want to mess it up.

That's what I had mentioned earlier. You cannot merge the catalogs. You will have to import the photos that are in the version 6 catalog into the one that you converted from version 5.

Well, at least I have both catalogs in the same PSE v6 now. I'll import the v6 over to the v5 catalog since that one is huge and already tagged. I've put off unzipping and importing any new collections until I had this worked out. A nagging little voice said something like this might occur. The hardest part is done so now just a little importing, sorting and tagging will polish it all off.

I know what to do now. THANK YOU so much for helping me. This is a happy ending to an awkward situation. :D

Now if I could only get my HP printer software to load without errors--I absolutely dread talking to India for hours without real help. :eek:
