Adobe Camera Raw 5.3

:confused: I downloaded the latest version of Adobe's RAW files but they cannot be installed. Reason - no installation (i.e. .exe) file. The file name is there but it has zero bytes! The download has only .sys & .cab files. I downloaded the RAW file twice and received the same result both times. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm stumped. Never seen anything like this before. Any solutions?

I posted a msg. on Adobe User to User but have not received a response.

Mustang, I just downloaded the Windows version of the candidate release ACR 5.3. The file is named ...

cameraraw_5-3_p1_win_012309.zip

It is about 75MB in size, and looking into it it has all the necessary files in tact.

If you have a sys and cab folder it doesn't sound like you've downloaded the ACR files. There is a zip file which contains the Camera Raw Filters and a CamerRaw Profile exe.

There is no install program as such. Once you've unzipped the file you need to move the Camera Raw.8bi file to the Photoshop Elements program folder. It goes in Plug-ins> File Formats

The camera raw 5.3 is a "candidate release" or high high level beta version that is almost ready for prime time. The the Windows zip file does come with an installer (setup.exe) and associated folders.

That's interesting to know, Jeff. I guess this must be the first time Adobe have done that, that I know of.

:) Thanks for the replies. I found MY problem. The setup.exe is at the end of .zip file after a 1000+ entries! I never thought to scan all the way to the end. However, still no joy. Installation failed. Received msg. to quit install. Went back to Adobe web site. Found under "System Requirements" that 5.3 (beta) is only for Photoshop and Light bridge! Oh well, live and learn. Hope my experience at least save someone else the time and frustration I went through.
