New to PSE 7.0

New to Photoshop Elements and now have PSE 7. My wife wants me to build a collage for my granddaughter graduation party. The collage will contain between 30 to 50 photos of her past to present. Plan to have it printed on a 24 x 36 poster.

I'm not sure how to get started, any help is appreciated.
