View Full Version : Does "Grants Tools" work with Vista 64??

PSE-7 and Vista 64

I really don't need Grants Tools installed, cuz I already have a layer mask installed. But, I said what the heck.....everyone else has Grants Tools....so why shouldn't I have them too.

After I installed the add-ons, I only get four to work. The ones that don't work are:
Actions Channel Mixer
Actions Curves
Channels Red
Transform Selection.

I get an error message saying: Could not load actions because this file is not compatible with this version of photoshop.

Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM) I have 4 gigs of RAM

In the "photo effects" category, I show "Grants Tools", but only one icon showing.....Channels RGB

When viewing "ALL" actions, I am missing: Action Colour, Action Selection, Mask Quick and Mask Standard.
I also show two icons for each of the Grants Tools I'm not missing.

I've deleted the database and let it rebuild....twice.
Added "metadata" to the XML files

I'm curious if Vista "64" is the problem? V-64 has two Program Files folders: Programs and Programs(x86) PSE-7 loads everything into Programs(x86)

My question is: Has anyone installed Grants Tools successfully on a Vista 64 operating system? If so, what do I need to change on the installation?
Question #2: Since I already have the layer mask, what features of G.T.'s do I need or should have?

Anyone using PSE-7 with Vista 64??

I have PSE7 running on a Vista 64 bit machine. And I have Grant's Tools installed. They work like a charm. I think (I did not do it that way) using the PSE6 version will work for PSE7.

I have the .xml, .png, and .atn files all installed in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Photo Creations\photo effects

That's exactly the same folder I placed all the .xml, .png and .atn files and they show there.
However, mine don't work, and they should.

Clicking on the "photo effects" icon and then selecting Grants Tools, only one effect shows up......Channels RGB. If I double-click on that, nothing happens.

Time to remove Grants Tools.....




I will delete all the Grant's Tools files and try again. (already done that twice)

No wonder Action Colour, Action Selection, Mask Quick and Mask Selection aren't showing.....they're not included in the ZIP file. Duh.....

I thot they were included in version 6??

I put on my glasses so I could read the fine print. LOL It's my fault I didn't pay attention to the chart...show what is included for each version.
