moving pix from iphoto to elements

I'm having trouble moving photos located in iphoto over to elements 6 in order to edit them. I have already changed the preferences to use elements as the external editor. However, when I select a photo in iphoto to edit, elements will open but the photo doesn't appear. What am I doing wrong?

Also, how do I move photos from iphoto into bridge?

The way I do it is to set up a folder on the desktop (mine is called Photos from iPhoto) and I simply drag and drop any photos from iPhoto that I want to edit into this folder.

I then use Bridge to browse the folder and open up the images ... when I have edited them I save them back to another desktop folder called Photo to iPhoto ... then once I am finished I add them back to the iPhoto library :)

I right click (control+click) on the image that I would like to edit and use the pop-up to manage the transfer to Elements.
Wendy's idea about a separate folder is a good one. I have a folder titled Work in Process for that purpose.

You can also command + click on the photos you want to work on in PSE and drag them to the PSE icon in the dock. Do use the folder method to import them back to iphoto so it recognizes them.
