Hi,
I have been browsing in some of your creative galleries. I am totally impressed. Are you learning some of these projects from the newsletters. I am thinking of subscribing. I have Elements 3 and it is pretty new. I am wondering if the newsletter will now be pertaining to Elements 4 which is now out and if I should be upgrading?? Have you found the newsletter is a big help - I do have Scott's book on Photoshop Elements 3 - but from what I can see the sky is the limit as to what can be done these days. Thanks for any comments. Shari

Shari, you don't only get the newsletter when you subscribe you get access to a pile of video tutorials. Yes, some of the things you see us doing are the result of those videos. Some are also from things we've learned in books and from others on this site. I would highly recommend that you subscribe. There is a steep learning curve to elements in the beginning, but once you start going through the tutorials it makes it much easier, not to mention a lot of fun rather than frustrating.

There have been many links on here by new people asking if they should subscribe and if it's worth the money. NOT ONCE was there ever a negative response. It truly is a wonderful site and you will definitely get your moneys worth. Each week we usually get 2 new videos and there are also some challenges for prizes. Take the leap and join us. You won't regret it, I guarantee you. :) :D

Hi Shari
The newsletter is going to be "bi-lingual" 3 and 4 I am sure for quite awhile. It is also just a small part of the benefit of your subscription to PET. As well as the newsletter you get a WHOLE LOT of video tutorials and written ones. New ones come almost every week. In addition to that you get your own gallery for sharing your pictures.

It has been a great learning experience for me - hope you can treat yourself to the subscription. :)

OK - I'll do it now. I will treat myself. Actually I gave up closet patio smoking seven months ago so I should be treating myself to something with the money I have saved. I must admit when I get frustrated with this programme I still get the urge to smoke - but don't worry I haven't and won't.
Thanks again, Shari

I'm a little over one year and half into quiting smoking.. :D
It feels just great!

Funny thing is, last year, it was too new so my nose didn't really came back on untill early this year. Now, a few weeks ago, we got the winter gears out (jacket, boots, etc.). Only to realize.. berk... (sound of distastefulness) they all smell tobaco so much... :(

But, it's one of those pleasant little victory, the smell of things coming back. Now, I can't wait to get to a flowers exhibit :D

Although there have been some interesting and useful features added to
Photoshop Elements 4.0, the fundamental way in which you use the
software has not changed. To learn more about the new features of
Photoshop Elements 4.0, please visit our Learning Center where we
demonstrate how to take advantage of these new tools. The videos and
tutorials on our site, while created in Photoshop Elements 3.0, contain
techniques and ideas that are appropriate to both versions of the
software. Over time we will continue to add some tutorials that are
specific to Photoshop Elements 4.0, but be assured that all of our
educational material is designed to help you learn about Photoshop
Elements, regardless of the version you own.

You may download a free copy of our newsletter using the link below.
When you get to the homepage, scroll down to the bottom of the left
hand column and you will find the link that will bring
you to the download page.

Also, each printed issue helps you unlock the secrets of this amazing
program, and shows you step-by-step how easy it is to do everything from
color correcting and sharpening your photos, to creating the most requested
photographic special effects. You’ll receive eight full-color newsletters a
year, filled with feature articles, tutorials and insider tips from some of
the best names in the business. Your subscription includes FREE
subscriber-only website access where thousands of people just like you have
joined our web community and discussion forums to meet new friends, share
ideas, and compare techniques. Each week we add NEW tutorials and

Talking of becoming a subscriber; I have a couple of questions

My "broadband" is very slow compared to American speeds but I have access to a much faster connection at the local Telecentre. Is it possible to download tutorials at the Telecentre and burn them to CD to view at home

Also what software do I need to have on the Telecentre and home PC's , is it freeware or is there a cost involved  The Telecentre is running Windows XP Home but I run Windows XP Pro.

Karen,

The required plugin is Quicktime and it's free (www.apple.com/quicktime (http://www.apple.com/quicktime)). However, on a public computer, you may have restricted access and be unable to view the videos. Consider asking them if Quicktime 7 is already installed.

Also, content cannot be downloaded easily. You need to extract it from the cache folder and I suppose on a public computer, the cache will be hidden or access to it will be forbidden for security reason.

Ray,

Don't worry about the access side of things, I am a volunteer and have full access to all areas  and the paid coordinator is very good when I need to do things that I have little experience with. I will approach Dave and ask him what he thinks and then decide if I will subscribe or not.

Thanks Ray

Kay, usually the first person to get the newsletter posts that they have received it and then we all go on that link and whine and cry until we each receive ours! :D Some times it can be a pretty drawn out process of waiting!
