saving picture to file

I don't see my new thread so I will rewrite it.
When I open my picture file, some of what i thought I had saved are icons with a torn paper. I guess that means I did something wrong.:(
When I "save as" and the drop down menu is selected, the only terms I recognize are: jpeg, gif and something else(?) Which should I select?

Hi Charlotte,

It's a good idea to save an image you're working on in the .psd format. When you save your working image in this format and open it later, all the layers have been retained.

Hi Charlotte,

You would have to repair the thumbnails file for this. Once you are done, the thumbnails should appear correctly for you.

If I finish a picture, actually an attempt at an oob. How do I save it. I tried to save as but it saved as a photoshop thing. Can't I save it like a normal picture?

Hi,

Do you mean as a JPEG file? Yes, you can. In the Save As window, scroll down in the Format box, and select the format of your choice.
