Double click on the layer thumbnail of the frame layer to open the Layer Style dialog. Click on Drop Shadow and dial in the numbers you like. This came up in a tutorial I was trying to do. When I click on the layer I'm not seeing any layer style dialog. Where is this supposed to be?
Thanks
Laurel

Is this a tutorial for Photoshop Elements, or Photoshop? If the tutorial is online, could you post a link to it?

Hi Laurel ...

Those instructions sound like they come from a Photoshop Tutorial ... it can be confusing using Photoshop Tutorials so its best to stick with Elements ones.

If you are a member of PET (the subscriber area of the Village) then there are lots of Elements tutorials there :)

This is the link to the tutorial. I think you are both probably right. Does anyone know of an oob tutorial I can use with elments 7. I do have layer masks.

Hi Sepiana,

Thanks for the tutorial links. I had already downloaded the oob tool according to the instructions and it is on my elements 7. When I click on them nothing happens.

Hi,

what you are referring to is a layer style. In the effects palette, the second tab is of layer styles where you would see many of them. Just pull any of the styles and apply on your layer. (check the attachment)

Now in the layers palette, you will see an "fx" icon on the layer. Double click on the icon and you will see the layer style options - i.e. drop shadow etc. which you are looking for.

Hope it helps
