I am a plastic surgeon and want to take pictures of my patients and show them what they would look post:

1. Hair transplant
2. Nose Job
3. Lip reduction/enhancement

what tools/tutorials are available that I can learn to alter photos for these tasks? I have messed around with Nagel brushes for hair but not much success.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum. Your best bet would be the Liquify Tool. You get to it from the Filter Menu:

Filter > Distort > Liquify.

Use the Zoom tool to zoom in on the nose or lips, then use the Warp tool to enlarge or decrease areas.

You can adjust the size of the brush with the left and right Bracket keys on the keyboard.

It takes a little practice to evenly adjust features, but it works and it's fun.

You can do some of the same movements with the Smudge tool (2 tools above the color chips) but it smears the pixels more than Liquify does.

You can check these links out to see if they help:

Hi ..

... and welcome to the Village :)

For a hair transplant you could select some of the existing hair, copy and paste it to its own layer and build up new hair that way.

... the nose job, well once again copy and paste to its own layer then reduce the size and clone out what is left of the "old" nose.

Hi Dr. Mark,

I use the liquify filter and find it excellent for augmentation, but sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own.

Last week I was looking through one of my older books for something and came across a whole chapter dealing with hair, lip, tooth issues. I note that it is still available from Amazon for $0.55 (plus shipping, I presume).

There are a lot of tutorials out there - most are using full Photoshop but many can easily be done in PSE7. Here's a simple nose job one:
