I have a new computer running Vista. I am trying to get my Organizer Working. It was working and yesterday it started crashing. I have done all the things mentioned in the other threads about the recommended steps from Adobe. It doesn't crash on every folder though - it is just random. I renamed the preference files, I renamed the thumbs5 file. I am running in Admin mode. I made a new Catalog. I repaired the Organizer and Optimized it. It did say that I didn't have any errors.
The only thing I didn't do was uninstall and reinstall.

Here's a combined list of all the troubleshooting steps provided by Adobe as well as discovered by the community here and on the Adobe forums:

The referenced Adobe tech note if fairly long, but it covers a lot of stuff (disabling anti-malware, reinstalling in simplified mode to disable other services and drivers, running in a new account, etc.).

Hi,
I did all of that. I am going to try it in a different account now. Will see how that goes.

The issue is Windows Vista 64-bit. Unfortunately this is not supported yet. So I could be hosed for now.

Which version of PSE? How did you determine that the problem is with Vista 64? Did Adobe customer support tell you it wasn't supported? Many people have reported that PSE 5, 6, and 7 run just fine on Vista 64.

My Organizer crashes every time I am adding tags using "Finding Faces". It runs for a few minutes and then Vista gives me an error message telling me that the program needs to shut down. This is very frustrating.

Try doing File > Catalog > Repair, and when it asks, select Re-Index Visual Similarity Data and click OK. Then do File > Catalog > Optimize.
