Hi- I am using PSE6 on a Mac. I use the eyedropper to select the color I want the color replacement tool to use. But when I go to use the tool on whatever, the color doesn't ever seem to be the color I see down in the lower left corner. It's most often much lighter than the color I select and it doesn't change even if I make it a darker shade of that color. Has anyone else noticed this issue? Any work-arounds? Thanks! Judy

Hi ...

This is simple the way that the colour replacement tool works ...

... it takes the existing shade (light or dark) and applies the new colour in that specific shade. So if you start off with a light yellow then applying red to it will give you pink.

Also check the mode setting. Color will give you much closer to the color you want than if you are using hue - and saturation and luminosity will give an entirely different result. But like Wendy says if you try and turn white to red it won't do anything (except maybe a hint of pink)

Hmmm.....right now I can't remember what I was trying to re-color but the color I wanted to change it to was a dark red. And pink is what I got. So if I choose Hue/Saturation/Luminosity along with the Color Replacement Tool, then the color match will be closer? I can choose both at the same time? Thanks, Judy
