unrecognized format

I found a photo on the internet that I saved and added some text with Photoshop Elements. I emailed to a contact but I can't seem to send it to Iphoto without it losing the text. I tried to save it to IPhoto from the email but it tells me it can't be saved as it is an unrecognized format. I would like to be able to use this in a DVD I am making. It is a jpeg. Can someone help me?

I'm a little confused by your message ...

You said that you downloaded it from the internet then added some text before you emailed it to someone ...

Can you not simply reload the one you saved before emailing it, resave it as a jpg and then import it into iPhoto ??
