Photos are not contained by any Photoshop Elements structure. PSE does not move them (unless you tell it to do so).
The photos are on your hard disk, exactly where you put them.

Hi Chris,
what do you mean by move back to documents? PSE should not delete it for you. In any case if you want to save a batch of photos to a specific location, try using File -> Process Multiple files. Cool for renaming, converting and saving a batch of files to a specific location.

I am a new user. I copied about 400 photos into Elements 7 and used Autolevels to enhance the color (from a snorkel trip). Now I want to copy the enhanced photos back into "My Pictures" and cannot figure out how to do it. The original unenhanced versions are still in "My Pictures" but I need to be able to take my digital photos, use photoshop to improve them an dthen save them outside of photoshop.
Please help!

As mentioned above, Elements does not hold any photos within the application. It will open a photo, lets you edit it and save it back to some location of your choice on the hard drive. Usually, when a photo is opened in one folder, e.g. My Pictures (or a subfolder), the edited copy will be stored in the same folder.
When running Process Multiple Pictures, you were prompted for an output folder. That is where the edited versions are. Nothing remains "in Photoshop", it's in a folder on your hard drive.
