Okay I give up!!! (Hands in the air)

I am trying to update my Adobe Camera Raw in PSE 5 so I can work with camera raw photos.

First of all, it was nearly impossible to even find the version of ACR for PSE 5 that I needed for downloading (4.6).

Here are my questions:

1) I cannot find the old Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in (3.5) that came with my PSE to delete it. I've tried looking everywhere on my hard drive. Are there hidden files in Vista Home Premium??? I've searched for every known derivation of this file.

2) Once I unzip the new ACR 4.6 it just disappears. So how can I make sure it gets into the right place in PSE 5? I could not find install directions anywhere on Adobe.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.:D

Hi Rewardgal
first make sure hidden files & folders are checked,
drag the old camera raw file to the desktop just in
case things don't work, the new raw file goes in
c/progfiles/adobe/elem5/plugins/fileformats, when
you unzipp it. Hope this works for you.

You can find the download and instructions for installing in Elements here:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4034

Scroll down the page and you'll find the instructions for PSE6 - they are the same for PSE5 but you need to substitute 5.0 where it says 6.0. Don't have Vista so don't know if these are normally hidden files or whether you need to be an administrator to see them. In XP they aren't hidden.

It doesn't disappear. It gets unzipped into a folder. You need to set the folder the unzipper is using so you can find it.

On my Vista computer, the plug-in goes in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
