The hard drive on my MacBook Pro crashed so I have to reinstall Elements on the new one. I've tried a couple of times and have the same results. It seems to be going just fine and then when it's almost done it stops. I've let it sit for up to 15 minutes and still no progress. I don't remember having any issues installing it the first time. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi ...

... and welcome to the Village )

When you got your new computer did you copy anything at all over from the old one ??

If its a new computer and nothing is carried over from the old one then Elements should install just fine ..

Is it PSE6 ??

I did a migration from another computer I have but it never had PSE on it. I did have the PSE6 installed previously on the computer with the new hard drive before the old drive crashed and had no problem. The most frustrating part is that it gets ALMOST done and then stops. There's a tiny bit of progress bar left when it stops (less than an eighth of an inch). I've tried to install several times and it does it every time.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi ..

I think you need to try a manual search on your computer to see what files have been installed ... sounds like they may be causing problems.

OK, I solved the install issue by going to the Adobe website and downloading the trial version. That install worked just fine. But when I launched the program and tried to put in my serial number (from the cd box that I bought) it wouldn't take it. I'm guessing because the company thinks I'm trying to install it on a second computer. I can't deauthorize it or whatever they say I need to on the old computer because the hard drive crashed and has been thrown away. Is there a way for them to let me use the serial number again under these circumstances? I certainly don't want to pay for it again when I'm using it on the same computer, just a different hard drive.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi ...

It isn't anything to do with the serial number being used before so don't worry about that ...

I suggest that you now uninstall the trial version (using the uninstaller) and then do a reinstall from your disk. Hopefully this time it will work OK :)

Finally! I did what you suggested and after a long wait the installer finally finished and I'm able to use the program again. It sure would be useful if Adobe included a quantitative measure of the installation progress (% complete or mb out of mb complete) so the user had an idea if any progress is being made or if the thing is just hung up.

In any case, I thank you for all of your help and suggestions. I'll definitely come back here if I have any questions as I'm using the program! I do appreciate your insight and suggestions. :) :)
