I'm going through a lot of photos right now, as we just digitized most of our life's pictures. Ran across this (http://www.elementsvillage.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=10128&c=2)one I took with my little P&S, and asked myself why I bothered lusting after a DSLR. Oh yeah. Think of how much better it would have been! ;) This is untouched...taken with film. I even got the horizon line straight without having to use PSE!

Isn't it amazing the quality of work we used to do whitout all this technology? I love the shot and the theme.

Reminds me of a time, not to long ago, when a bunch of us usual Tuesday Photography Dinner. What kind of dinner do you ask? About twelve of use would get together for a meal on Tuesdays then drink beer and discuss all aspects of our shared interests, photography as an art form.

At one time we were all ohing and ahing over the latest, greatest dSLR release. One member was being very quiet. He was a consummate photographer that still worked with film and view camera. We turned to Peter and said, "So what do you think?" He smiled and said, "It's not the arrows it's the archer!"

A man of few words but he hit the mark.

I agree with Grant's friend. Even lousy equipment in the hands of a skilled photographer can produce wonderful images. Personally, although we will probably never eliminate post-processing, the closer we can get to it, the better. I think, anyway.

My 2¢. For what its worth. :D

Great shot, by the way!

Great shot. I agree on the golf clubs too. I tell my hubby the same thing every time he lusts after a new set. Usually it comes with a tit for tat deal - lens = clubs. :D

Now that's the way to do it. Everyone wins! :D

tit for tat deal

I have another friend and she worked on that deal. She got the lenses and he got the shaft.

GRANT: ROTF!

Too funny.

Yes, I'm thinking I got my new camera because DH realizes how much more he spends on his hobby than I do on mine. But it would take him YEARS to catch up to all I have spent on all of my hobbies (sewing, rubber stamping, traditional scrapping, E T C ! ! !). In fact, I don't think it could be done. But I'm happy to live with his guilt. ;)

That is a nice shot. But seeing what you HAVE done with Elements....well, I am glad you went digital, and that you share your work!

What a nice thing to say. You made my day.

I won't be sharing anything for the next few weeks, however. I'm off to visit grandkids again...first in Massachusetts, then to a much better climate, in San Francisco. When I get back, I hope to have more to share (& not JUST grandkids!). This will be my first chance to really try out my new Canon Rebel.

I will, however, lurk from remote computers, so say only nice things while I'm gone! ;)
