I am finished with all the photos I have in an album in the organizer. I want to delete the album, but when I highlighted it and hit delete, it asked me if I wanted to delete the photos from the Organizer. Will that also delete the photos that are tagged elsewhere?

How are you deleting the album? I have v5. If I right click on a collection in the collection pane I get the option to delete the collection. The possibility of deleting the images never comes up.
Why are you deleting the album? What did you use it for? What do you mean by "finished with all the photos"?
If it may come in handy again someday you might want to stick it in a collection group (or album group whatever they call it in v6) for "Retired Albums."
I doubt you want to delete the images from the Organizer. The Organizer is intended to hold ALL your images to make it easy to find the one you want.

I have made a poster collage. I first selected all the photos I wanted on the poster and put them in an album (v6). Now I'm done with the poster, I see no need to clutter up the album pane with every album I want to use. That is why I am asking the question about deleting them from the Organizer. I definitely do not want to do that or delete them from the hard drive. When I right click on the album and choose delete, it asks me if I want to delete the album and then there is a choice if I want to also delete them from the hard drive. At that point, I just canceled out. There was also a message about deleting them from a "smart album", whatever that is. I guess I could go into the album and delete one photo and see if it is still in it's tagged place under the original place in the organizer.

Unless you want a record of which images you used in your poster you don't need to keep the album.
I've never seen v6 in action so I am not sure what you are dealing with. In 5 I can select my album, select all of the images, right click on an image and have the option to "remove from collection". You might want to try that to empty the album before you delete it. The messages you are getting when you try to delete the album make me nervous.
I only recently upgraded from v2 to v5 and the collection groups are new for me. I think they are great. You can have one group for albums you don't need anymore and it only takes up a little bit of space no matter how many are there. I have a group with all the collections I made before I upgraded-out of the way for now, to be dealt with later.

Thanks Karin. Yes, that message makes me nervous also. That is why I canceled out of it. I'll try your suggestion.

Okay, got my answer. I deleted one of the photos in the album and yes, it deleted it from the Organizer. I knew where to find it on the hard drive so I imported it back in. Glad I didn't delete the whole album! But I still have quite a few albums that I don't need anymore, including the one I posted the question about.
