I just wondered what does everyone use Elements for?

I started using it because I wanted to restore some old black & white photographs but once they were done I bought a digital camera and started to use Elements for enhancing my photographs. Well lets be honest here ... mainly correcting my mistakes :) ... I learned how to recreate the tops of heads, swop heads and a few other things too .... so thats how I got hooked!

Later I started to do montages, collages and creating odd bits. Now I suppose do a bit of everything ...

I use Elements 3 to restore old black and white photographs. Usually there is only 1 copy of the old photographs so I share copies with my relatives after I have restored them. I also enhance photographs that I take with my digital camera. I make digital scrapbook pages. Each year for Christmas for my children I make calendars using old pictures that I have copied and restored and I now use Element for that project.

Originally used Elements 1 when I got my first digital camera for basic color and lighting corrections. Now that I'm on my second camera, I upgraded to Elements 3. And discovered these Forums and some how to books.
Now I'm learning so much more about manipulating pictures! I do a much better job adding a person into a group than I did a couple months ago.

My favorite new trick is putting smiles on people who weren't smiling before!

Hmm ... so how did I start and what do I do with it now? Might be the greater question.

I am constantly learning, I love to learn and can't stop myself from learning. One day I was in a book store and on the discount table was a book with a trial version of elements. So for $5 Canadian I was in for a night or two read. The program turned out to have greater depth than two days so I am still at it. I was previously a power user to Corel Photopaint but the design philosophy that Adobe had really caught my attention and I switched.

Now I do all my vector graphics with Elements and Photoshop but mainly Elements. Those that know me will not be surprised that a good deal of my work is with fine tuning photographs. Also I do a great deal web work with Elements. Finally I do try to do experimental art work with elements. What I don't use elements for are projects that require a good deal of text for that I still go back to Corel.

The number of things you can do with Elements is fantastic and it is interesting seeing what other people do .. I like Leona's idea of making calendars using old pictures that have been copied and restored ... thats something I hadn't thought of but I am going to try it.

Kerri's putting smiles onto peoples faces made me laugh .. all those times I took photographs and there was always one person who didn't smile. Now you can put the smile back on their faces :)

I suspect that using Elements is addictive ... :)

I too bought Elements to restore old photographs, a pile of 35mm slides that I no longer have the equipment to view and (ok I admit it  ) correct mistakes in film and digital photos...

But now I'm learning doing so much more, mainly due to the inpiration of Wendy & Jodi :) Actually I haven't got round to starting the slides... too busy doing new things...

I mainly use PSE for digital photo correction and manipulation and then use the resulting images in digital scrapbooking. There was some Canon software called PhotoRecord that came with my Powershot a couple years back. It let you add backgrounds, frames, text, etc. and that got me hooked but it was limited to the art packs they made available. About the same time, PSE version 2 was introduced and digital scrapbooking was gaining in popularity so there were more places to buy and download goodies so now I am officially an addict. I was looking at some of my first pages the other night and PSE does a much better job at corrections (or hopefully my photogtaphy has also improved a bit!) I also had Album and used it to categorize my pictures. Now that it is integrated into PSE3, I have a separate catalog for my scrapbooking elements and love how I can search for an element and pull it directly into the editor. Having lots of fun!!

Barb,

Its amazing how addictive it is ... sometimes I sit down in front of the computer and think that I will just have 10 minutes ... two hours later I'm still playing :)
