Hi, I am a "newbie" to Scrapping. What are the steps to fasten embellishments, ribbon, tags, brads, etc. onto a scrapbooking page? Please advise:confused: Ed Weidman

Don't really understand the question, but I'll take a stab at an answer. LOL
Since you have so many versions of Photoshop Elements, I am assuming you are not a newbie to the software. PSE and a few scrapbooking digital files is all you need to get going.
For digital - there is no actual "fastening" - just copy/paste or drag/drop your digital embellishments onto the page. Choose png files of embellishments so there are no white boxes around the ribbons, etc.
If you want them to look "fastened" you could add "digital tape" "digital grommets" etc.
To get a real feel for digital scrapbooking, google digital scrapbooking and you will find hundreds of sites to visit - most of which have some freebies for you to try your hand at digi-scrapping.

If you want "realism" then you would add some shadows or other means of making it look three-dimensional. A fantastic learning site is www.scrappersguide.com (http://www.scrappersguide.com) Linda is a leader in the scrapping industry and has several learning CD's available to teach techniques. Many of us here have learned from her. Scrapping involves heavy use of layers and if you are familiar with that concept then you are halfway home. You can look through my gallery to see some of the pages I have created following some of her teaching techniques.

Hi Janice and Nancy. Thanks for the quick responses. My reason for writing was to find out how to handle Staples which are found in Linda's DVD which I own. I can't seem able to install & resize. What to do? TIA, Ed Weidman:)

Small items are hard to work with. Use transform - which should make it easier to resize. Without transform - just using the move tool - you have to be right on the item to work with it.
With transform, you can be less precise.
I activate transform by clicking on one of the two sided arrows visible when you have the move tool chosen - clicking on the two sided arrow activates transform.
Control T works, too.

Ed - you don't "install" the embellishments, if that's what you're asking - you just place them on your own document. First, in PSE 6 or 7, open a new document or the one where you want the embellishment to end up. Then either use the Organizer (locate the embellishment you want to use, right click on it and select "full edit) or the Editor (File, Open and then navigate to the location of the embellishment and double click on it).
The embellishment will open in a new PSE window and the other one you had already opened will go down below, into the Project Bin. Click and drag the embellishment down and drop it the file in the Project Bin (or you can click it to select it, copy it, open the other document and paste it).
From there, you can follow cats4jan's instruction to use Transform (Ctrl T), to resize, move, or otherwise manipulate the embellishment as you wish. This works for all embellishments - papers, bows, staples, flourishes - every scrapbooking element.
Hope this helps. Also, if you have one of Linda's DVD's, I'd suggest watching it from the beginning. Her lessons are very clear and easy to follow and will help you tremendously.
