Hi

I just lost a some pictures after a camera/card read error. Not critical as most were just for fun.
Anyway, I am now in the midst of trying different recovery tools. Might as well be prepared for next time.
I used one tool (free) which seemed to find all my files just fine. Well, not just fine, but does find them.
I shoot in RAW and Lg Jpg (still haven't fully converted :o) and it finds the jpg files just fine but all the raw files (CR2) come back as a tif.
Looking into the properties the tif files are smaller that the raw should be.
Strange thing is if I change the extension from tif to CR2 the file size changes and all is fne,

Any format gurus have an idea?? or even some other way to check the tif?

Like I said, the files are not critical so any playing around or testing will be fine as only a few are would be keepers and I have the large jpegs of those anyway.
