suggestions for the Challenges. Part of what makes the Challenge great
is your input. Also please don't forget he Photo Challenge as

Hi Mike ...
Sometimes Grant has this problem with his service provider ...
Send the entries here ... grant(at)cavesofice.org ... Just remove the (at) and put in @ instead.
Then leave a message in the thread on the Adobe forum to say that you have sent the entries to cavesofice. Grant doesn't use that email address very often so you have to tell him when you use it ...

Hi Mike ...
I have been experimenting with making selections using colour range ... its a Photoshop feature and works in the same way as the replace colour feature in Elements but at the end it converts the colour ranges into a selection ... so that made selecting the windows quite easy ..
Then I started selecting whole areas and playing with the colours in them ... it started to look like a night scene so I then worked on increasing the effect. When I had finished I ran through the images and the thought hit me of what happened when they switch off the light ... so number 4 came about :)

Thanks for everyone for their great entries this week. This is one of the rides at the inside amusement park at the Circus Circus Casino in Lost Wages.
ALEX: Nice use of the frog in your animations. Your #2 has a 60s light show effect to it.
BARBARA: Love the color scheme throughout the series. I think #3 is my favorite of the series. How did you get such crisp folds?
BEN: I love the contrast between the soft butterfly and the harsh symbolism of the chaotic world. Nicely done.
BOB: I love the colors in your #1. Nice flashing lights in #2.I like the way you pulled the triangle patterns and colors from the columns into your #4.
CLIFF: The essence of minimalism
DAVE: Another good mixture of the frog and animation.
MARILYN: Great cut-out on the parasol. Is this what they mean by "giving the cold shoulder?"
MARY LOU: Loved the way you preserved the details in your toppers in #1. Nice chip stack with the CHAOS logo in #2.
MIKE H: I get dizzy just looking at your #1. What filter did you use? Are frogs in a queue the same as ducks in a row?
MIKE R: I missed the No Dangling sign the first time I looked at this. Nice blending of the hands with the track.
RITA: I liked the way you incorporated the lines into the background. How did you create such a wonderful looking plant?
ROBERT: Work good enough to hang in a museum...oh, wait, it is.
ROBIN: How did you get such dramatic swirls? It looks like a floating top being sucked into a water vortex.
TAB: Nice way to emphasize the frog--also liked the way the outside is now night. How hard was that to change?
TERRY: Your #2 is my overall favorite this week. I love the texture and the colors. Is this a jump of pleasure or desperation?
TOM: Two nice images. Love the theme of #1, but how did you get such a wonderful relief look for #2?
TONY: My hat's off to you in #1. I love the butterfly and flowers in #2. Did you create the butterflies from scratch or are they somehow stretched and bent from the original?
WENDY: I like the way your series gets progressively darker. How did you get such clean color changes with so many crossed lines in the background?

Hi Ward.
I adapted a tutorial from How To Cheat In Photoshop, to get the metal relief effect.
I started by using the threshold filter to get a high contrast image.
The rest involves selecting the black areas and creating an alpha channel.
Then apply render>lighting effects.
I imagine this could be done with Elements, but I haven't thought it through.
Actually, I was most pleased with the screws which were my own invention.

Ward: Thanks for posting your comments in this forum - we do appreciate them. As for the butterflies I was working on another hat by curling up the brim and adjusting the perspective. Overshot and the next thing I knew I had a butterfly  . Needed something to go with them and had the tiger lilies from a pic I took this summer but with rather a drab background so replaced it with something more colourful. Like most of my challenge attempts they tend to evolve as a result of playing around :) A great way to learn though.

I am always curious how many people start out with a specific idea for these challenges and how many end up making lemonade out of lemons. I know many of mine are the latter, but, like you, I think it is a great way to learn.

Hi Ward,
Thanks so much for the comments, no 2 was my favorite also. I think it was a jump of desperation to achieve pleasure. I loved your dice, they also reminded me of small iced cakes. Yum

Thanks, Ward. The hands on the track was the tricky part. I stayed up way too late doing that...not perfect, but I'm getting a little better...
I showed the picture to my son (the dangling one) and he was mighty confused ("I don't remember being there...").:)

Thanks, Kt. I started out with a completely different idea, then remembered a picture of my kid hanging from some monkey bars last summer. After I finished, I figured that little frog guy on the pillar needed to be showing some sort of reaction to such a blatent breaking of the rules.
I just can't believe that kid...we certainly don't allow that sort of behavior at home...:)
These challenges are fun--but the time...man. There's not enough to go around, is there?
