I have two friends with Elements 7 , one with xp home, the other on vista.
Both have the same issue. When they load an image and then go to FILE , DUPLICATE image, the program locks up and they have to exit. Both have re installed to no avail. Any solution to this? (I don't have this issue)

They could try deleting the prefs file

To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (Mac users: Command, Option and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes. You do have to be quick holding down the keys so if you have problems with it try holding down the keys with one hand before you click on the icon :)

Thanks Wendy. One of the users already reported back and this fix of yours did the trick.

What causes this in the first place, or does one even know.

Al

Hi Al ...

We don't really know what causes the prefs to become corrupt but one thought is that it can happen when people click around in Elements whilst something is already being done ...

... for example if Elements is slow and is taking a while to apply something to the image .. well human nature being what it is we start clicking around in the hope of speeding it up

Also when the prefs become corrupt all sorts of strange things can happen .. so when Elements starts acting odd we usually suggest deleting the prefs :)
