I shot my new bloom with a Coolpix P5100, hand held. Purchased this little 12.1 mp cam to keep in my pocket at all times, but have been grabbing it lately instead of the D300. The color has not been touched and is right on.

Nice shot, Ron.
How close were you, and did you use a zoom and flash?

I'm not going to show this to my DH....he'd be jealous that I was getting orchids from another man! Just gorgeous.

Hello Frank'
I was using my tiny coolpix 5100- no flash, no tripod
f4.7, 1/120, ISO64, 22mm.
It was set either on program or automatic.
Feel free with any other questions.

Along those same lines, Ron, I bought a Canon PowerShot SD990 IS with 14.7 megapixels to keep in my pocketbook and haven't picked up my Canon PowerShot SD S3 IS with 6. megapixels since. It's an amazing camera. This picture was taken on a bitter cold and windy day. I had to hold my hat on with one hand while shooting with the camera clutched in freezing fingers in the other hand. Considering how much I was shaking, I was amazed at how well it turned out. Due to the 14.7 megapixels I can enlarge details quite a bit and not lose quality. Also, because of it's light weight I can hold it much steadier. I'm even thinking of selling the SD 3 IS. The 14.7 megapixels makes up for the 12x zoom in the larger camera. My new camera even has a name. I call it "Smarty Pants".
