Should work fine. If you have a photo selected in the organizer just click ctrl + I and then write down or copy the error message if any, I have never seen what you said but there is no one else here at the moment so I will try to help if I can

Hi Karen

You said that you 'managed' to install pse7 - did you have any problems during install? Are you running Vista or XP?

When did you install it? Have you noticed any other weirdness (like malfunctions in the organizer)?

Also, please do as Ron suggested and copy&paste the error msg that you receive to this forum - the folks here will have a better chance to figure out what's going on and hopefully have you up and running soon.

Is that exactly what the error says? "Error loading editor workspace", but no weird numbers or anything?

Have you rebooted your pc since the install?

I am running XP and installed it today. I was using 5 and thought I would upgrade. I downloaded from the Adobe website as an ugrade. 5 has been no problem. I have a new box with lots of memory and have not noticed any other weird things since download. No numbers just the normal microsoft error asking to report it or not. I am currently reloading it to see if it missed something. All my photos were upgraded from 5 to 7 catalogue without any problems.

I have rebooted several times and nothing. I did the shift control and alt to change preferences and nothing. I upgraded the license and nothing. I am in Australia and it is 8:00 pm. Just so you know that I am in a different time zone. ;)

Hi Karen ...

Did you disable your virus software before you did the install ??

Wendy :)

Oh, how frustrating for you.

Okay....what about trying to re-install?? Since Adobe is not offering lots of direction here, and I find nothing when Googling 'Error loading editor workspace". It's a last-ditch effort.

Oh, I'm in Japan, just two hours behind you!

But if you wait a few hours when folks in North America are on (or check back tomorrow), you may have many replies, as this board is very, very active and one of the best forums I've been on.

Aha! I see Wendy has posted, and may be onto something. Disable your AV!

Please keep us posted on whether / how you fix your problem - it may help others in the future:)

sorry but I had to go away Karen, I had PSE5 and just followed the instructions that came with the discs that I bought, which is why I prefer to have the disc, but that doesn't answer your problem. In so far as you have tried rebooting on several occasions i would suggest renameing the ZIP file that you downloaded form adobe and re-downloading it ensuring that you have the computer conduct verification of the download then try installing from the new download. With downloads so many little things can go wrong. Also contact adobe they are generally good with help. Above all don't get hassled it will work in the end I run xp and am so confident with PSE7 now (Thanks to Wendy's help) that I have deleted PSE5 to save space.

It will be good with Wendy on your side your in great hands.

OK, I have reinstalled the system from the Adobe site and it is still doing the same things. After I reboot I get a message: Adobe Photo Downloader 3.0 component encountered a problem and needs to close. I can get into organiser and do the fixes, order prints, email photos. Everything but go into the full edit I have tried the control i and going in through all avenues. It gives me the same message each time (quickly)... Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has encounted a problem and needs to close. Ironically if I hit "don't report" it tries again still with the same result. I have Photoshop 5 still on so can revert back to that. I would love to play with the new version though!

I found an update for 7.1 and have tried to download that. When it tries to find my 7.0 it needs help and asks to browse. I take it to the folder and it still tells me it can't find it and asks to quit.

Going to bed, hopefully one of you bright sparks will have an answer for me when I wake up. Cheers Karen

Question did you just do an uninstall of the downloaded PSE7 or a remove program from inside windows control panel? That does a more complete job of removal. Sorry for the questions but it worked so easy for me it seems strange.

The program uninstalled then reinstalled. Should I go into control panel and uninstall then do the install?

Danudin

Karen the difference is that control panel gets rid of all contacts of the program and any links to other programs are severed, uninstall just takes away the proprietary software, and some links can be maintained. Ask your computer geek friends they will explain it better. Sorry for the stop start communications but my being in Australia puts us a little out of sync time wise. Keep Trying and continue to have fun even in adversity, please

Sorry Karen hadn't realized you were in the place of many Tiger Snakes.

Have you tried turning off all Adobe products then holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys with your left hand then clicking on the PSE Icon in the window.

You should be able to select the editor then and from in the editor start up the Organizer.

Hope this works but will keep on trying for you.

I have had a sporadic problem getting the program to stay open...just kicks me out with that same error you have. Sometimes it opens; sometimes, not. There is another way to get directly into the editor, bypassing the organizer opening screen. Someone on another site gave these directions:

click on Start
click on My Computer
double click on Local Disc (C)
double click on Program Files
double click on Adobe
double click on Photoshop Elements 7
find the file named "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (it is in the second half of the lists of files)
right click on the file name > Send To > Desktop (Create shortcut)

Then use that shortcut to go directly to the editor. You may or may not have success in keeping the program open.

Es, Isn't it strange but "knock on wood" (while tapping his head) I have had absolutely no hassles with PSE7 PSE5 used to have little hiccups but nothing drastic or permanent. 7 has been trouble free to date, (said while madly pounding on head)

Hi,

1. Please go to the following location: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7\"
2. Fnd the file "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
3. Double-Click on this file and press Shift + Ctrl +Alt keys at once.
4. A message box will appear and prompt you to delete the settings.
5. Click Yes.

This should solve the problem.

Thanks,
Tarun

It immediately gave me the same message that there was an unexpected error. I feel I am missing the editor stuff. Two days ago I lodged a case with Adobe and it is still pending.

I still can't use PSE 07 after paying good money for it. Adobe won't talk to me and I am at a loss. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi Karen,

Sorry for the late reply. One more attempt:

1. Go to the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Adobe\ Photoshop Elements\7.0\Editor
2. Delete all the files from this folder
3. Go to the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Adobe\ Photoshop Elements\7.0\Organizer
4. Delete all the files from this folder too. (Please don't delete the sub-folders and their contents)
5. Relaunch Editor.

Please let me know if it works.

Thanks,
Tarun

One thing I did to get v6 installed was to copy the disc onto the desktop. Stop your anti-virus (restart later) and install the program from the application file on the desktop. It worked, but I don't know why.

I usually disable all the start-up files when I am installing a program as well.
