I have just installed PSE7 and when I attempted to scan in color negatives as I have done in the old PSE, version 1.0.1. (That tells you how far behind I am in upgrades), when I go to import, there is not tab for negatives. Color pictures, black and white pictures, etc., but no button or tab for scanning slides. I probably wouldn't have changed PSE's except I have a new computer, dual core and Windows Vista. My old PSE doesn't like Vista at all.

Anyone know how to scan slides in PSE7? I have an epson 620 all-in-one printer and a Gateway computer.

thanks.

Kay

Hello Kay-Verify that your scanner is turned on and set to the appropriate settings and photos are on scanner.
Open your PSE7 & select Organizer.
Select File/Get photos & videos/From scanner

Hi Kay,

Welcome to Elements Village. This is your best spot for all things Photoshop Elements (PSE). I am not familiar with the Epson 620, but if it is like most scanners, the conversion from color negative to a digital positive happens in the scanner software before it gets to PSE.

There should be an option in the scanning software to scan color negatives. Further, if your negatives have color couplers (that orange cast that Kodak film has) there is a separate setting for that too. At least that is the way my Nikon film scanner works.

Make sure your scanner software is up to date with your operating system. Vista requires an upgrade to the software. You can get the upgrade on the Epson website. I think this is your machine:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=35361&prodoid=41764278&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows

Once the scanner is done with the scan and the conversion the image should be ready to load into either PSE Organizer or Editor. Let us know how you make out.

Cheers,

Bob
