Once again with 'tutorial' help from this forum I've completed this. The last problem I had was when using the 'lasso' to cut the corners to a 45 degree it was really hard to see when to 'click' to make the corners match equally. But I can work on that next time.

Hey, that looks great, Tony. And I'll bet you learned something new while making it, too.

I was kinda laughing while I was making the frame because my Dad was a cabinet maker and built cabinets for many years with him and then I've built/supervised building freeway bridges for over 30 years using saws of all kinds etc. and here I am now making wood frames on the computer ! My Dad would fall out of his rocker on the front porch if he knew. The little guy in the picture is my new grandson, my new buddy.

Great frame Tony, at least you completed your goal. I gave up for awhile.

and about using saws, I never get it right, I'm just horrible, to the point that I always add an inch to the cut then trim it down.:D

Tony, great frame and a very good-looking kid!

Here's a tip for those mitered corners -- lower down the opacity of the overlapping layer; this will make it much easier to see where to click with the polygonal lasso tool.

Sepiana, I was wondering, being a beginner, is there a way to enlarge the area while making the 'cuts' like when you do making selections? Its my 'older' vision thats causing my problems. I was trying that but was getting lost in my attempts.

Hi Tony,

To help my not-so-young eyes, I zoom in as much as I can (sometimes all the way to 200%).

If you are into making frames (I am), have you seen this (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41025&highlight=making+frames)? Just be warned -- once you make a frame, there's no stopping -- you want more and more.
