View Full Version : The Color Purple - Hard to Reproduce

My biggest problem with flower shots is getting an exact duplication of the color I shot right of the camera, without playing with the many ways to alter color in Elements. If I'm using raw the white balance control can be used easily.

Any suggestions?

Ron....

The possibility is that the colour you see in real life just can't be reproduced by a screen or printer. Some purples are outside the range.

Our eyes can respond to a much wider range of colours than these devices. Take a look at the attached image. It shows a representation of what our eyes can see - the whole envelope, versus what screens and printers are capable of - inside the lines.

Why not post a copy of the shot for us to take a look at? Of course we wont know what the real life flower should be :-)

Wow - that's gorgeous!

Interesting comment on the color purple. Our local teams (Bears and Packers) play the Minnesota Vikings at least twice a year. If one network broadcasts the game, the uniforms look deep purple (which they are). If the game is on a different network, the uniforms look much more blue. Same TV. Hmmm...

Colin - the link under Ron's name will take you to his gallery and you can see his pretty purple flower! :)

Good shot Ron. As I said previously - only you can tell how close this is to the real thing. It looks good to me though.

Ron, are you referring to lavender or purple?

Can you find the purple you refer to displayed in this link"

Thanks Frank, quite an education. The before pictures are always much bluer than what we see. I probably could leave them that way and nobody would know the difference.
