Two new ones in my PET gallery. They both were submissions in the Be Creative #61 Challenges and Contests forum.

Suzanne,

clicking on the link in your signature to your PET gallery takes me to a subscriber sign in page, not to your gallery, strange

Mm-m-m. That is strange. Let me work on it and I'll post when it is fixed.

I just LOVE the grapes. What a beautiful greeting card that would make.

They are both beautiful, Suzanne. Did you do anything extra or follow the tutorial exactly? I found that this effect, like so many others, Looks GREAT on some images and not as good on others.

I did try the effect on other photos that did not look as good. I'm not sure what the difference was. The only thing I made sure of before starting the tut, is set the resolution at 72. Like so many tutorials, resolution is never mentioned and the outcome is disappointing if your resolution is different than the tutorial author. I may up the resolution a little on the ones posted in my gallery, to see if the effect is the same. If I set the resolution at 300, like is suggested for most photos to be printed, I would have to adjust the settings in the filters. I wish, whoever writes tutorials would post the resolution they used when creating the effect. That way, we, as end users wouldn't have to guess as how to adjust the settings.

Suzanne, Nice work on those images. I like both, I can visualize both of those being used for a Wine tasting and Tasbasco tasting poster/program. What vineyard in So. Cal was that taken from ?

Beautiful effect on both pictures. My favorite is the stately oak with Spanish moss hanging from its branches with the colorful Azaleas blooming underneath it.

I never realized that resolution made so much difference when viewing your work. I usually do everything at 72 so that it can be posted on the web, but I guess I should be working at 300 until such time that I am ready for others to view it. Thank you so much for bringing this to much attention.

Thank you Shirl. I'm not sure why tutorial authors don't post the resolution they wrote the tutorial for. Maybe someone will come along and enlighten us. :D

Suzanne,

they are both very pretty, and the link worked for me today :).

I don't know if there is an 'easy' answer for info in tut's to get it all spot on for 'every image', I find that some tut's suit some images and not others, in the same way that actions suit some and not others. For that reason I think it is very difficult to write tutorials and get something that will please everyone. At least you have found changing the resolution can help if it isn't looking right.

Thanks Lisa. I notice that tutorials written in Elements magazine usually have the resolution written into them. But not so for tuts written on the web, like most of the links that several have posted. I agree that every tut will not work for every photo, just like in the Challenge #61. I tried several before I was pleased with a few of them. And the resolution was set at 72 each time. I just think it would be helpful if the author would write what he/she used for the particular photo they were written for. If I had done the effect for the landscape one in my gallery and had the resolution set at 300 because I wanted to print it, I think I would have been sorely disappointed, and then would have had to go back and adjust the filters used for that. Thank you for your input. Anything I can learn here is most helpful.
