I saw in the video Layer Masks may 2005 that you can do them but I could not find the tab that he was pulling down. Can you don layer masks in Elements 7?

Thanks

No, you have to download and install an add-on. The easiest to do is this one:

The video that you saw showed what add-ons can do that normally Elements would not be able to do without them.

Here are two other places for add-ons that can add a Layer Mask option Elements:

Grant's Tools: http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/index.html

Elements+ (Free demo):

Sorry its taken me so long to get back online. Thanks for the input but I am still having trouble with trying to install the downloads both of the things that you all suggested say to put them in elements file either preview, or photo creations. I can't find either one of these when trying to install the plug in's. I have elements 7 and they only have directions for 6 and below. Can you all point me in the right direction? Hey I am also looking for the filmstrip downloads? Can you tell me where to find them.

Thanks

Bryan

Bryan,
The link that I provided earlier has instructions for both PSE6 and 7 (the same).

The folders are normally hidden. In Windows Explorer go to >Tools >Folder Options >View and click on Show hidden files and folders.

The Elements+ demo self installs once you download it. Really helpful.

Hi,

You can download filmstrip and other actions at http://www.panosfx.com/.
This is the site i typically use and it has some beautiful actions to choose from which you can use in PSE 7.

There is a download for a filmstrip on the third video in the series in the subscriber area.
July 19, 2005 = it says "Additional Download" and is a custom shape.

I downloaded the layer mask from graphicsoft that you were speaking about. It's where it's supposed to be in my PSE5 but I don't know how to use it. Can you give me some really elementary steps to follow? Also, does this layer mask do away w/the need for copy and paste?

Go to Google and search for Layer Mask Tutorial. Among others you will find links to YouTube, which has quite a few video tutorials to offer.

Hi ...

If you have a look at Grant's site he has Videos on how to use his tools ... there is one showing how to use the Layer Mask.

http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/RunTools.html

I'm not sure what you mean by does it do away with the need to copy and paste ??
