I'm completely new to Premiere Elements. I've done a lot with photoshop elements, but now would like to learn how to use premiere elements. Are there any dvds that I can buy with tutorials just for premiere elements? I see that there is one that I can purchase for photoshop elements, but I already know a lot about photoshop. I learn best from watching the videos, rather than reading the books.
Thanks!

What version of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements do you have?

I decided to round up some free Premiere Elements video tutorials. Although basic principles stay essential the same from version to version, the features and their location often do not. So, I caution you to be mindful of that. It is easy enough to point out to you where a specific feature may have been moved to going from version to version, which is usually the case. But, from time to time, the issue may require a workaround going from one version to another.

Premiere Elements 7
If you sign up (the free membership) at Photoshop.com and install that Inspirational Browser (check out interface when opening Premiere Elements 7 or Photoshop Elements 7), there are tutorials there. Most are for Photoshop Elements and are PDFs. But, there are some for Premiere Elements. I was very upset to note, when you went to open one of the Premiere Elements tutorials that looked of prime interest, that you were greeted with Upgrade (that = sign up for a paid subscription) to view. I believe that Photoshop.com and those that contributed those videos behaved poorly in these decisions which short changed users in more ways than one.

The listings include tutorials, video and written. Take a look and see if there is anything of interest.

Premiere Elements 4

Here the tutorials are video or HTML. Topics include:
Import or capture video
Edit your video project
Create exciting videos using movie themes
Assemble a music video with the beat detection feature
Add audio comments or narration to a movie

There are other sites that offer a mixture of free and subscriber (paid) tutorials. It does not look like we are going to be seeing any Premiere Elements 7 video tutorials at Photoshop Elements User Technique Newsletter. The current business model seems centered on Photoshop Elements. Right now, it will probably be easier to find those for Premiere Elements 4. Other sites are out there, but the “good” stuff usually has a price tag attached. Check out http://www.lynda.com (http://www.lynda.com/) as well as http://www.muvipix.com (http://www.muvipix.com/). You may have an entirely different outlook on the sites that you are after.

Please let us know if you need any workarounds to use in Premiere Elements 7 when you are working with a tutorial from another version.

Thank you so much!!! I'm going to check those links out tonight. I'm excited to begin using elements. My home videos are pretty boring at the moment!:p

From personal experience I have learned that the more you learn the more you learn what you do not know. But, the projects are all challenging and rewarding, yielding family treasures.

Key: do the small projects (mini test runs) first, then the grand projects.

Good luck and please post if any further questions.
