Wood Frame Tutorial Question

I was following this tutorial along trying to learn and when I got to the part that says to hold the 'shift key' down to move the selection over to select the next part of wood frame , it won't let me move the selection over. I did it over and over paying attention to every step, but I couldn't figure it out. I'm sure its something easy, but it seems a step is missing ?

I'm not looking at the tut, but I suspect they want you to make a selection, and then add to that selection by selecting more. Holding down the SHIFT key is a shortcut to do that.

Instead, you can also go up to the options bar and change the behavior of the selection tool to "Add to selection". Personally, I find this method easier than trying to keep track of my finger on the Shift key... :)

Make the selection and do not let go of the mouse hold down the shift key at the same time and you can move the selection around. The trick is to not let go of the mouse before you hold the shift key.

Tina's comment reminds me that you can hold down the spacebar (while you are holding the mouse) to move the selection. Hope you have nimble fingers! :)

Val and Tina, your advice worked by holding down the shift key without letting up on the mouse. I'm going to post my new wood frame this weekend because my access online is limited during the week as I live/work away from home during the week..(ugh), But Thanks again for your help ! Johnny the tutorial is the same one in the Subscriber videos.
