View Full Version : Printing Issues

I am using Photoshop Elements (PE) 7.0. I have a Epson R1900 photo printer and an HP C6180 Photosmart all-in-one. If I print a picture outside of PE, the picture prints fine. If I print a picture within PE I am experiencing two issues:
1. The picture is coming out way too dark regardless of which printer I use. It should be as light as it is on the screen. Note that I took my SD card to three locations (Wal-Mart, Costco and a Ritz Camera) and printed it off of their printer and it came out perfect.
2. Within PE, the pictures are not printing the correct size even though I go into the printer and make sure that it is set correctly.

I use a mac w/ PSE6 - 1900 so not sure if it applies to PC side. But when I get to the print command in elements - on the right hand side- the choices have to be made on color system and what to use - have you tried changing those?

Hi crahol:
1. Have you assigned a color profile to your photo?
It should be sRGB ICE61966-2.1
2. In the print menu choose Photoshop Elements to determine color, not the printer.
3. Choose a paper profile for your printer.
You can find them on the spec sheet packed with your photo paper, or go to:

I have been looking up previous posts on printing as I have just started to use a Canon MP970 to print my photos from PSE6.
On reading Frank's response to the question posted, how do you assign a colour profile to your photo?
Thanks

Sue....
I wouldn't quite agree with Frank's suggestion. Assigning sRGB is only valid if you know the image should be sRGB. Its a complicated subject and I would suggest you start with some notes I've put on my web site under Colour Problems. I specifically show settings for Elements (PSE 4 but they're all much the same) and the Epson R2400 which should be similar to your 1900.
