I'm trying to install a trial version I have of Premiere Elements 4, which came with some other software I purchased.

I get the following two error messages:

and

I'm loathe to click Yes as I haven't a clue what I'm saying yes to. What on earth has PE4 got to do with Microsoft Office??:confused:

There are probably shared resources between Adobe and Microsoft--I wouldn't be worried about that. What I would be concerned about is the indication that a previous attempt to make an installation/update to Microsoft Office did not complete. If your MS Office works fine right now, then I wouldn't be concerned about the incomplete install--in which case I'd go ahead with the PSE installation. That me

Bayla,

Another opinion to add....

First, what do you know about Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003? Did you as administrator using a guest or other account try to install that program on your computer? If so, when? Another if so, has everything so far indicated that Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 was successfully installed on your computer?

Depending on how you answer that, you might consider a System Restore to before someone attempted to install that Microsoft program. And, then try to install Premiere Elements 4. Is this Premiere Elements 4 really a trial version or Premiere Elements 4 that came bundled with something like a Wacom?

I would prefer for you to clear the "decks" before going the YES route in those dialogs. Make sure that the System Restore is ON whatever the case, especially now.

I will be watching for your response.

ATR,

I've had Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on my computer since I had it - it was the first thing I installed - even before PSE!! (I uninstalled it from my old computer and reinstalled it on the new one) It's always worked fine. I (and my kids) regularly use Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint with no problems whatsoever which is why I don't understand the error messages!

The Premiere Elements is a DVD that I think came bundled with something (can't remember what - possibly the new computer?) - It is an official Adobe DVD that has PSE6, PE4 as well as CS3 and Adobe Reader (all 30 day trials)

Looking forward to to your reply.:)

Bayla,

There are far more components in Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 than the programs that you say that you use routinely. So, you could still have an incomplete install in there, I think.

What is the deal with all that bundled software on a 30 day basis? Is it 30 days from the time when you install it? Does it say anywhere that it expires by such and such date, independant of the 30 day trial? I am wondering if you takes risks, whether you are taking these risks to end up with expired Adobe software that will not install.

Let us assume for now that the answer is 30 days from the time you install. There are some possible routes as I see it:

1. Say Yes to the dialog boxes. Run the risk of your Microsoft Office getting messed up. If so, try to get back the Microsoft Office with System Restore which you have had ON.

2. Assuming that Microsoft Office is not completely, try for a Repair before you even considering the thought of a complete uninstall/reinstall of Microsoft Office.

3. Did you check to see if there is a Service Pack requirement/update for the Microsoft?

Of all the choices, I would first go with the Repair process as cited in the link. What do you think?
