Is there a way to remove a shadow from the face on a photo. Here's an example:

Those shadows in that particular image are particularly deep. The quick way to see what's in there in PSE6 is to try adjustments in Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Shadows/Highlights, and gently move the shadows slider to reveal some of the hidden detail. Too much and the shadows turn to mush.

In other images where more information exists in the shadows, then you might have better results.

I'll try playing with it some. Thanks Jeff.

Not much to work with under those shadows. If you lighten it to much it will wash out the rest of the photo.

The attached picture shows about the best I could do. I used a plug-in called Digital Roc to boost the exposure then used the Dodge tool under the eye shadow area to squeeze a little more. Applied a hide all layer mask and used a white brush to bring out the corrections while maintainig the bulk of the original photo. Repaired the facial area some and cloned the beard from the left side, floated it to its own layer, flipped horizontally and eased into place with the arrow keys. Then on a new layed I cloned away most of the microphone shadow area down to the top of the guitar.

Hmm - hope this works. Never used pixentral before.

PS - Guess I don't know how to get the full size picture from pixentral into a post. The little thumbnail does a poor job of showing the editing improvement in the eye shadow area.

You may find the techniques shown in
http://www.shooting-digital.com/columns/schwartz/elements/elements.asp helpful for reducing the shadow effect.

I believe that is a very popular entertainer...I'll bet if you ran a search for photos on the net you would find a like pose without shadow... then it would just be a copy paste and blend to your photo.

Pretty tough creating image where there aren't any pixels--and your shadow is so dark that's almost the case. This is the best that I could do...
