I've seen where people will attach small images but I've also seen where people have slightly larger pictures included as part of their text--that's what I don't know how to do.. I'm familiar with loading my image onto Pixentral.com but am stuck after that--please help.

As you can see, I'm talking to myself now to try experimenting--that is, until someone get's back to me...:)

Figured it out myself with some trial and error--but here's an image I created that contains the instructions:

It depends on the site where you wish to post and their rules...
ok. lets say you have your photo or LO uploaded to gallery. Then when it is large, rt click on it > properties >( new box) highlight the url and rt click
> copy
ok
then in the post...
click, just above the click spot is a yellow box with a mountain shape. Click it , and paste into there. delete the first 'http' part that shows up and click ok

can you just do the IMG /IMG method? I'm testing this myself because I did that & the pictures didn't show up in the preview.

didn't work in the actual post either (which should have a picture in it)

John

The reason we use the smaller thumbnail type thing from pixentral is to allow those with dialup to decide if they want to view the full size or not.
I am pretty sure you can do the /img thing but sometimes the posts can be large.:)

Hi,

I do not use Pixentral so here is how I "do it myself." Post your full size print on your own website. For example I had an issue of depth of field so I took the following image: http://www.s-i-inc.com/temp3.html

Now for the posting insert:

1/ Make sure your image is save on your computer.

2/ In your post push the paperclip icon.

3/ In the window that comes up navigate to the image file and push the upload button.

4/ After the file uploads, close that window down.

5/ Hit the downward facing triangle to the right of the paperclip. Click on the just uploaded file. At this point you will not see the image, but it will appear when you submit your post.

As you can see, I'm talking to myself now to try experimenting--that is, until someone get's back to me...:)

I use Flickr to host my images that I post here. It's just easy and I use it for loads of other stuff as well so I don't have to duplicate work using pixcentral. It also creates different sizes of the photo so you can use them in various different places.

Posting here is a bit of a faf as you can't use HTML and Flickr doesn't provide the "forum" code but its only a few extra mouse clicks. The key to posting images here is to ensure you wrap the IMG tags arround the photos URL rather than the page it is dispalyed on. The URL used should end .jpg, the code looks like this...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/3086059743_9a91521fd0_t.jpg

If I want the image to link back to its photopage so you can see a larger version and EXIF etc. (which I do) I can wrap the IMG code with URL tags, like this...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/3086059743_9a91521fd0_t.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesfletcher/3086059743/)

Giving this final image.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/3086059743_9a91521fd0_t.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesfletcher/3086059743/)

Or this one...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/3086059743_9a91521fd0_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesfletcher/3086059743/)

Or this one...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/3086059743_9a91521fd0.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesfletcher/3086059743/)

Hope that helps.

I actually tried the IMG /IMG method in my first post, referencing a picture in my Smugmug account. Nothing showed up. But....a minute ago when I went back to edit the post, I tried it again and it did show up in the preview. Weird.

http://jrogers.smugmug.com/photos/354589668_xs3mt-S-1.jpg

and now it seems to be working here! Maybe it's just something on my home computer!

Fletch - I like the tip on setting it up as a URL to reference a larger version
