I'm new. I love newness. How do I place one or more images into my background image?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
To add additional photos to your base image:
1) Open all images you wish to combine. They will display in the photo bin at the bottom of the page.
2) Make active (double-click) one of the images to wish to add to the base image. Important: Your base image should be in the photo bin, NOT in the active workspace
3) In your active workspace, choose CTRL+A to select the entire image.
4) Activate your Move tool (press V on the keyboard)
5) Drag the photo OUT of the workspace and on to the base image (which is still in the photo bin)
6) The base image will now appear in the workspace, with the new photo, on its own layer, on top. You can resize and drag around the top layer as you like.
If you want to add multiple photos to a new, blank document, follow all steps as shown above, but, in addition, create a new document. File > New > Blank document. Set the size and resolution to your liking. Make sure the new, blank document is in the photo bin and drag your images on to it.
Good luck with your project, and post back if you need more help.

I don't know why you'd want to place additional images on your background layer. This would make it very difficult to correct and adjust.
Why not put them on different layers and when you're happy with the result just merge all the layers.
I'm on a Mac, but perhaps some PC contributor can advise you differently.
Happy 2009.

Hi John,
This is basically the same method that Val described, but I have a tutorial online on How to Combine Multiple Images at:

Very helpful responses to my question. My next opportunity to implement these recommendations I will let you folks know how it did or didn't go.

When you copy and paste images onto a background, they automatically come in on their own new layer, so no problem.:)
