can i edit, say, someone's face in a picture in elements for mac? I have a few group photos where one or two of the faces are dark frm shadows, but the rest of the photograph is exposed properly?

can I do it with elements or do I need the big version of photoshop?

Thanks for your help with this question!

Can you post the picture you have a question on so we can offer some more specifics on helping you out.

You can do adjustments to shadows on faces in Elements, but to exactly tell you how we need to see the photo.

You can try this though:

Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Shadows and Highlights to see if it will lighten the shadows on people's faces.

Absolutely, and much more! The most straight forward way to do what you want is to "select" the area you want to modify (and there are a number of different tool to do this with), and then modify your selection by adjusting the lighting levels, contrast, color saturation, etc... Don't be afraid to experiment.

Yes you can. Jon Zich has given you good advice. Try the different tools.
Work on new layer and If you don't think it's working trash the layer and go onto the next tool.
In making your corrections look to make the new face match the others as close as possible in luminosity.
