Elements 6.0 move to external drive

I wish to move my files on to an external drive from Elements 6.0 I notice that I am unable to use File>move . because of a flaw in the program. Has Adobe printed a "how to" for Elements 6.0? If not could someone help this old guy with a step by step process in moving the files while still keeping their image in the organizer, and them getting one back when he want's to work on one. I have read the questions currently in the forum, but do not understand some of the procedures. I am not a computer wiz like so many of you are. Perhaps there is a book or article someone knows about that could help me.
