PSE 5 Organizer and EHD

I made the mistake of not using the Organizer program to move my files from my C drive to my EHD. As expected, I now have the "missing file" icon on all of my images. I have tried reconnecting some of them and the process seems successful until I go back in and try to reconnect more files. As soon as the dialog box is closed, the "missing file" icon reappears on the files I just worked on. Any idea why this is happening? Is there anything I can do differently?

I am working with PSE5 on a Windows XP computer. The EHD is a Western Digital 500GB.

I would appreciate any suggestions!

In Windows, move all the photos back to where they were originally. Problem fixed.

Then, using PSE folder location view, move them to the EHD.

The EHD needs to have the same letter assigned to it each time you plug it in for Organizer to keep track of it. Use Windows control panel to set the drive letter.

I have the same issue - I read the responses - not of which made any sense. All of my photos have a yellow ? missing file icon. I am not able to retrieve photos anywhere on my pc - I am using windows vista and elements 4.0.

You have to first find the photos in Windows. You have to know exactly where they are, the exact drive and folder name.

Then, in Windows, you move the photos back to where the Organizer thinks they should be, their original location. Alternatively, you can try File->Reconnect from inside PSE.

Hi Paige. How do you find the Original Location? I have the same problem when I restored a Backup from a CD. How do I restore to an Original Location? TIA, Ed Weidman.:confused:

The PSE Organizer expects the photos to be in a specific folder. To find that folder for a given photo, right-click on the photo in Organizer and select Show Properties.
