PE6 Editor does not open

I can open Organizer but not Editor. I have tried uninstall and reinstall. I have Vista. Organizer can't find the photos initially, possibly because of the uninstall/reinstall but I can point it correctly and they open. If I switch to editor PE6 stops responding.

What happens is absolutely nothing. The editor opens but I cannot open a photo. I cannot, from a photo list, open the file with PE6 either. I'll try some of your answers starting with deleting preferences. It did work so that makes the most sense to me.

Just for the record, nothing worked. I bought 6 figuring if they were getting ready to release 7 the bugs should be worked out in 6. Obviously that doesn't follow. :(
