Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone came up with a solution to the problem in this thread:

http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34015

I have almost the exact same camera he did, mine is just lacking the widescreen format.

I am also having the same jittery video problems. I tried importing different ways like he did, and i tried reversing the field dominance multiple times.

I did have success exporting the video as DV AVI and then editing it in that format, then burning to DVD. I was just wondering if PE7 should have a fix for this issue in it by now?

Thanks.

With respect to Premiere Elements handling of VOBs from DVD-VIDEO from DVD Camcorder, I would expect similar results from Premiere Elements 4 and Premiere Elements 7. Most people get excellent results going this route. HOWEVER, some do not. For them, it is still the workaround of converting the VOBs to DV AVI and using the DV AVI version on the Premiere Elements Timeline.

I have gone back and reread the thread that you cited. You say that you are using the same camcorder as was cited in that thread, namely Sony DCR-DVD 505. BUT, he was using Premiere Elements 4, and you are using Premiere Elements 7.

I took another look at that Sony camcorder and noticed that it features 5.1 channel sound which Premiere Elements 7 has a unique way of handling (5.1 channel sound goes to tracks above 3). So, in your specific case, I am wondering (just wondering):
1. What project preset did you set for Premiere Elements 7 at the opening of the project?
2. What tracks did the video/audio go to on the Timeline tracks?
3. What happens to the "jittery video" if you unlink the VOBs video from the audio and bring the video to video track #1?

Again, just wondering if there is some undocumented issue with VOBs with 5.1 channel sound, instead of the Stereo 2 channel sound?

Bottom line: I would not expect any different handling of VOBs by Premiere Elements 7. Use the workaround of conversion of VOB to DV AVI. Let me know if my wondering has any impact on the issue.
