Hi,

I just bought a brand new computer (Dell--Business side--XP Pro, 2GB RAM) and Premiere Elements 7 was one of the first programs I installed.

Every time I am in a project and viewing the effects palette, my system crashes to a blue screen and says there's some kind of system memory dump.

I searched the forum here for crash issues with 7, but didn't find anything.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much!

I have heard of Window XP Pro operating system, but I am not familiar with “Dell – Business Side-“ computer. Have you checked the Premiere Elements 7 System Requirements against what makes up your system?

Because of the nature of Memory Dump Errors and since you have a new computer and software program, I think it best to go after T/S people that sold you that computer and/or Adobe Technical Service Free Troubleshooting for installation issues related to a recent purchase of the current version. Check out this link that I came across on Memory Dump Errors:

Also, check out this AdobeTechNote re: troubleshooting system errors in Premiere Elements 7

The first link seems to suggest that you probably have Registry problems. If your computer is new and under warranty, it is best not to mess with the Registry yourself.

Please let us know the outcome or if you have further questions.

ATR,

Thanks for your response.

I appreciate having a resource like EV and posters like you who help us get through these messes!

I was doing some reading/investigating and read some articles on crashes on previous versions of Elements. Most of the fixes in old versions could be tied to driver errors either in sound or video cards.

I checked for updates and found one for my video card. After updating it, I can not recreate the crash. So I am hoping and praying that my problem is fixed!

Thank you so much for your help!
