Hello Everyone. I am still somewhat at the beginning stages of learning PSE6. I keep getting a "Pull" towards regular PS, I guess because it's the "Industry Leader" as they call it. PSE6 is great and has more than I'd ever use, let alone the time to learn it. Anyways, am I alone? Do you ever feel like switching to regular PS? Just wondering.....Tim

Tim, I'm sure you'll get a variety of responses to this, but here's my take. I have both PS (CS2) and PSE7. I rarely use Photoshop unless it's something requiring advanced editing (curves, HDR, etc.). PSE7 has most of what I need and all of the third-party layer styles and filters I've downloaded work just fine in both. Unless you have a strong desire to spend lots of money (which I would recommend putting towards a really great camera), stick with PSE until you find a real need to go for the "full monty" ... :D

I agree with Glenda. I have both PS CS3 and Photoshop Elements and I use PSE most of the time. Photoshop is the "industry leader" for professionals, but PSE is much more user friendly and has everything you should need for home use - except a Layer Mask which can be added on with Grant's or Graffi's tools.

Thanks for your replies Cherry and Diana. I agree with both of you. I just wish the learning curve was a bit kinder, not that PS4 would be:rolleyes: The videos in the Subscribers section has truely helped me out alot. Thanks again for your replies, Tim

Hi ...

I have CS3 & a whole variety of versions of Elements ... but I now use CS3 most of the time. There is a learning curve but a lot of it is to do with things being in different places in the menus ...

Now that is difficult to learn if you are also using Elements so I always suggest that when you get Photoshop you put Elements away for a while until you get used to using Photoshop. One of the great things about Photoshop is that you only need use it to the level that you want to ... so, for example, if you don't want to create your own drop shadows then you don't have to as you can simply use the presets that you used to use in Elements.
