I know this is not the site for this problem, but I've been working on this problem for 8 hours and I'm in tears.
Today I turned off my PC, unplugged all the cords to get them managed and into the surge protector we got. When I turned on the computer my monitor has been screwed up ever since.
Things we've tried:
Called Dell... took me 40 mins just to talk to someone. They could not figure out the problem.
Did a System Restore, several times
Uninstall/Reinstall video card driver
Uninstall/Reinstall monitor cd
Took the cover off to make sure the video card hadn't come loose, it was fine.
Have searched the web like crazy and can't get anything resolved.

Does anyone know of another place where I can research this kind of problem?
I don't mean to take up time on this site with this kind of problem, but I've never come across another site where people actually respond to your problem.

Thanks so much!
Susan

I am not sure in what way your computer monitor is screwed up so that would be the first time I would tell people if you are looking for help. Next you did two things so have you tried to remove or reset what you did? Are all the plugs in the right spots and are they all in tightly? Finally if the monitor is plugged into the surge protector and or computer are plugged into the surge converter have you ever thought that one or more of the plugs on the protector are defective? Try bypassing the sureger protector and reseating the cables.

Yea, I guess telling the problem would have been helpful. Like I said... it's been a long day. :)
The problem was that I could not get the resolution right and everything was supersized.
But somehow (and I literally don't know how) it got fixed. I had been playing with every tab in the Display Settings all day. So who knows....

Thanks for responding! I appreciate it!

Hi Susan ...

Sometimes it really does help just to tell someone when you are having problems like this ... it may not fix them but it does make you feel a little better. Oh there have been times when I have felt just like you did so don't worry about posting a mesage about it !!

... and I am so delighted to hear that the problem now seems to be fixed :)

Also, when everything goes wrong or nothing will co-operate, I take a walk away from the computer for a few minutes. Fresh air, a glass of water, put some music I like... then I come back.. with a hammer :)

Seriously, taking a break usually helps a lot.

:) :) :) I love the hammer comment Ray!
Thanks everyone!!
I think it's still a little messed up, but atleast I can do some work on it until I get all information moved over to my Mac.
