What accounts for the large file size differences between v4 and v7 (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1sL65QjE3KVFFCWlFdXwu7VqfNlO)?

Now, now Michael. You know the drill. Details, specifics.

This sounds interesting, so I am looking forward to exploring this question.

Sorry :o

I just upgraded to Premiere Elements 7.

When I went to uninstall PE4 I noticed it's file size was in the GB's while PE7 was in MB. Why is PE7 so small by comparison?

Michael,

Thanks for the additional information. First question, the graphic that you show, is that from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel? In the graphic you show Adobe Premiere Elements 4, Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Templates as well as Adobe Premiere Elements 7. What does the MB/GB value look like for Premiere Elements 7 Templates?

I will be back later with more information.

Yes. My theory is that if Adobe Premiere Elements 4 is 3.47 GB Adobe Premiere Elements 7 should be at least as big.

What does the MB/GB value look like for Premiere Elements 7 Templates?Ah, that's an issue I haven't addressed yet. I dl'd PE7 and installed it; but apparently there is a missing template file that I need to install because this popup displays when I open PE7 http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1QhyxjWM54bmMEeCEIZuVoQat3XZh_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1QhyxjWM54bmMEeCEIZuVoQat3XZh)

My dl included two files, the one I need; I think, is PRE7_WWEFGJ.7z. I'm just not sure what to do with it.

I just discovered this folder, with a truncated name, on my desktop.

file:///C:/Users/Michael/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpgfile:///C:/Users/Michael/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg

Maybe this (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=188uKlLgDW0KsfjCTnbjXOEp8dYoKO)is key :o

I wonder if I should just start over or if I can finish the process from there

Michael,

Is this a purchased download of Premiere Elements 7 or the tryout from Adobe?

I ordered the boxed version of Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7 from Adobe recently and plan to install these programs sometime today. I will let you know final file sizes and such.

Before purchasing these programs, I downloaded the tryout version from Adobe. When I did, the downloading process for Premiere Elements 7 showed two files:
PRE_TB_WWEF.... 657.56 MB
PRE_TB_WWEF.... 1.17 MB
My recollection is that this was managed by an "Akamai Download Manager" and that the smaller file download went first and needed to go to completion before the larger file was downloaded.

I will be back later with more information, but my first thought is to take download/install to completion (Premiere Elements 7 + templates, themes, etc.) and then compare file sizes of the 4 and 7 versions.

I looks like you still have Premiere Elements 4 installed on your computer. I wonder (this is just wondering), if, when you have more than one version of Premiere Elements installed on the same computer and when you go to add another to the computer, the file size of the one being installed appears smaller because of file sharing among the versions????????

If you have the opportunity of starting over without complications, then start over. If not, keep going to completion in the process that you are in.

To be continued........

I bought the v7 package which included PSE 7 and PE 7. It may be that I got the tryout version of PE; the price was almost too good to be true. Maybe that's why, although there was no clear advisory saying PE7 was only a "tryout". And the opening screen doesn't say "LE" or anything about "tryout".

Had problems with that because it doesn't work if you are using Firefox; which is my default browser. I had to switch to IE first. I think that's how I got the "Premiere Elements 7" icon on my Desktop.

I looks like you still have Premiere Elements 4 installed on your computer. Yes, I do

I wonder (this is just wondering), if, ... the file size of the one being installed appears smaller because of file sharing among the versions????????I had exactly the same thought! It's why I worried about deleting PSE6 when I stalled the v7 upgrade. But that's another story

It would be painless to just start over; except for the hassle of entering the SN :( I will attempt to complete the process I have started; though it's a stab in the dark. But I have nothing to loose, I have no projects set up in v7.

Thanks for your continues support I really appreciate it. :)
