PSE 3.0 - Was Working - Now Wont

I installed PSE 3.0 on my laptop and on my home desktop. Both worked fined for 2 weeks. Today BOTH machines say "DirectX is installed but could not be initialized. Please reboot and restart" - I reboot and get the the same message on BOTH machines. Very strange. On one machine I have uninstalled and reinstalled - no luck.

I called support but I refuse to pay $39 for a support call esp since I paid $49 for the product new ! Appreciate any guidance here.

Could it be the version of Direct X that you're running? Maybe an upgrade might help? Are you running Windows XP?

I did a system restore to a week ago and all is fine now. This is the downside up windows update - an automatic update came in having to do with Direct X that messed me up.
