I need some help with adding sepia toning to some old pictures I have scanned. These pictures are black and white originals. When I scanned them, I set the scanner for greyscale because the color photo setting made them an off black and white when scanned. The greyscale made them like black and white. I saved the scanned photos in tiff format. Now when I try to do my editing my layer styles photo effects that adds a tone just turns the photo a solid grey. Also I noticed some filters are no longer active to use, for example opticVerve Labs. Color adjustments hue and saturation are not active either. Have I messed up when scanning? Please tell me a way to convert these pics so I can to some sephia toning. Two shoeboxes of old pictures from my mom now scanned and I seemed to be limited on what I can do with them. Help!!

Thanks
George

Check the Image Mode setting -- most likely it is not set to RGB since you scanned in grey-scale. By changing it to RGB you will be able to create the sepia toning desired.

Yep, I knew it had to be something simple. I just overlooked the obvious. I changed the mode and it works just fine. Thank you for the help.
