My website uses frames in which pictures are inserted. How can I do this? The guy that is updating my site said he was having trouble sizing the picture and inserting into frame (using paint). I would rather send him the completed version ready to insert. I will try to include the frame so you get the picture (no pun intended).

Thanks

If you are using Photoshop Elements (I have PSE5) it is just a case of editing the frame image, then adding a new layer, then opening the photo you want in the editor once there you will have two images in the editor. Select the frame image, ensure that the new layer is highlighted to the right. Go down to the photo and drag it into the main screen. It may overlap but don't panic, right click on the main workspace and you should see the option to free transform, (click it! - If it says that the image needs to be simplified first - do that by clicking on the highlighted kayer to the right! - then proceed to transform) once the image has the dotted lines marching around it you can shrink it down to fit inside your frame. I did it to show the red but you could overlay that part if you want.

Thanks Ron, Glad to see it can be done. However, I can't figure out how to get the frame and a picture to open in the editor. I have both in the project bin below but don't know how to open both at the same time in the editor.

Don't know if this will help you....
An easy way to put an image into a frame is "paste into".
Make a selection of the inside of your frame.
The polygon lasso is good for this.
Hold down the shift key to get straight lines.

Then open you image.
Ctrl + A to select all.
Ctrl + C to copy your picture to the clipboard
Then make your frame active
with the selection still active = marching ants
Click on Edit (menu bar) go down to "paste into" and click

It will put your image inside the frame.
It may be way too big.

Select Ctrl + T to get the bounding box
If you cannot see this bounding box click Ctrl + 0(Zero) to zoom out.

Then drag diagonally on the corners to scale your image to size.

You can move your image around inside the frame.
I tried to get the cardinals whole tail in.
It made the bird too small.
Once you commit the changes = Enter or Green checkmark you cannot change it again.

Hi,
another way would be to make a selection of the center of your frame and delete the center.
First make a duplicate of your frame (Ctrl + J).
On the duplicate select the inside of the frame and click delete.
Turn off the Eye on the original frame and you will see that the center of the frame is transparent now.

You can save this as it's own file and use it as a template for all the pictures.

Then get your picture Ctrl + A, Ctrl + C, and then Ctrl + V to paste it into your image.
It will make it's own layer .
Position this layer under your frame and then Ctr + T to resize until you like what you see in the frame.
See the layers in my example.

Thanks Ron, Glad to see it can be done. However, I can't figure out how to get the frame and a picture to open in the editor. I have both in the project bin below but don't know how to open both at the same time in the editor.

My method was open the frame in the editor, add the layer (as I intended inserting a photo into it).

Then I go back to the organizer select the picture I want and go to full edit.

With them both in the photo bin it is just a case of ensuring that you have the frame highlighted (Blue Surround) and that the new layer is selected in the layers bin, then just move the cursor to the photo left click and hold over the photo then drag it intop the main workspace. The frame seems to disappear but it is just hidden right click in the work area and select free transform and then drag the edges in until the frame shows to your liking.

Is this better?

Thank you everyone! I will try all the techniques and see which is easist to remember. I was able to do it using Gregg's method. The step by step was the only one I could follow with my level of ability lol. One thing that wasn't easy, is the lasso tool, it is very undefined. The cursor is plain retarded. I could not get the selection exact, yet the errors are not too noticable. Here is the results if you care to look.

Thanks everyone! Glad I found this forum.

Ranger:

Glad you solved it, and thanks for posting. It was a refresher course for me also. It's been awhile since i needed the Photo/Frame thing.

I liked your Website, very well done.
