Sue, the sepia is perfect, especially for the time frame in which the photo was taken.
I would suggest that you restore the writing which makes the photo so much more personal.
You dad was quite a handsome man.

Yes I thought he was too (especially as I look like him:D) I have only removed the writing because my mum is giving a copy each to my girls as part of their Christmas present so thought it would look better without the writing! What we be nice is if I could re-create it but with my girls names instead of 'mum':)

I beg to disagree, but I think your girls would love the original with the message of a son to his mother. However, it's really up to you.

Great job. I was going to say the same thing about the writing. It is such a wonderful thing to have. It needs to be restored, also.
